About shipping

Shipping lets customers choose to have their order shipped at checkout, alongside pickup and delivery. You connect Shippo to show live carrier rates at checkout, set your own shipping rates, choose what's shippable, and pick the location orders ship from. You buy and print the actual shipping labels in Square once an order comes in.

Turn shipping on

Turn on Accept shipped orders so customers can choose Shipping at checkout. Pickup and delivery are unaffected.

Connect carrier rates (Shippo)

In Carrier rates, connect Shippo to show live carrier rates at checkout:

• Connected accounts — connect or manage your Shippo account, which provides the live rates.
• Shipment carriers — the carriers available through your Shippo connection (for example, FedEx, USPS, and UPS).
• Shipping boxes — select Manage to define the boxes and packages used to calculate rates.

Set your ship-from location

In Ship From Location, pick the Square location that all shipping orders ship from. The POS at that location also fulfills the order. Select Change to switch locations.

Choose what can ship

In Shippable products, choose which categories and items can ship. Items appear in a shipping cart only when their category is enabled here.

• Shippable categories — select Manage to choose which categories can ship.
• Shippable items — select Manage to choose which items are marked shippable.

Set shipping rates

In Shipping rates, define how much customers pay for shipping. Select + Add rate and choose a pricing strategy — a flat fee, weight-based tiers, or free over a threshold. Each rate can apply to specific regions. Use Edit or Delete to manage existing rates.

Apply rates by address with profiles

In Shipping rate profiles, select + Add profile to create a profile that applies rates based on the customer's shipping address — for example, a profile covering a set of states. Use the icons on each row to edit or remove a profile.

Set sales tax for shipments

In Sales tax, configure your Tax nexus. For each country and state where you collect sales tax, pick the Square tax to apply on shipments to that destination. Only shipments to listed states are taxed. Select Manage to configure it.

Save your changes

Select Save changes to apply your shipping settings.
