Set up group orders
Who is this article for?
- Gegsy merchants who want to enable group ordering and set the defaults, fees, and eligible items for shared order sessions.
About group order settings
Group orders let customers organize a shared order session where each participant pays separately. On the Group Orders page under Menu, you turn the feature on and set the defaults that apply to every session — participant limits, pickup and delivery rules, fees, and which locations, categories, and items are available. (To create and manage actual sessions, see the Group Sessions page under Orders.)
Turn group orders on
In Group Order Settings, turn on Enable group orders in app.
Session defaults
In Session Settings, set Max participants per session — the most people who can join one session. Leave it blank for no limit.
Pickup settings
Under Pickup Settings: turn on Enable Pickup, set the Required lead time (days and hours), and optionally a Minimum order amount for pickup.
Delivery settings
Under Delivery Settings: turn on Enable Delivery and set the Required lead time. Current Delivery Settings summarizes your active setup — the delivery Mode, Coverage, Delivery Fee, Fee Split, and Minimum Order.
Choose a delivery mode:
- In-House Delivery — your own team delivers the orders.
- Managed Delivery — orders are delivered by a third-party courier partner. Fees vary by distance, order size, and traffic. The courier partner available to you depends on your location.
Delivery coverage is set per location using Delivery Zones (a radius or a custom area); select Manage delivery zones to set them.
Group-order delivery also has a few extra controls:
- Large Group Order Threshold — orders at or above this amount are treated as large group orders, which may request a larger vehicle and incur higher delivery fees.
- Who pays the delivery fee? — choose how the delivery fee is applied to the combined session total (for example, the customer pays the full fee).
- Minimum order amount for delivery (optional).
- Waive delivery fee — waive the fee when you choose.
Choose which locations offer group orders
In Eligible Locations, toggle which of your locations can accept group orders.
Choose eligible categories and items
In Eligible Categories & Items, control what's available for group orders. Items appear in a group-order cart only when their category is enabled here. Use Manage on Group-order categories and Group-order items to choose what's included.
