Organize a group order
Who is this article for?
- Gegsy merchants who want to organize a single order on behalf of a group of customers, with each person paying their own way.
About group orders
Group orders let you organize one order for a group — for example, an office lunch. You start a session and share a join link, and each participant adds their items and authorizes their own card, so you're never charged. At the deadline, the authorized cards are captured automatically, or you can finalize the session manually.
Before you begin
- Group orders are available on the Pro plan.
- Decide on the fulfilling location, pickup or delivery, the fulfillment time, and the authorization deadline before you start.
Start a merchant initiated group order
- Go to Orders → Group Sessions and select + New group order.
- In the Start a group order dialog, set:
- Location — the location fulfilling the order.
- Fulfillment — Pickup or Delivery.
- Fulfillment time — when the order should be ready or delivered.
- Deadline — the time by which participants must authorize. Authorized cards are captured automatically at this time.
- Max participants (optional) — limit how many people can join.
- Select Start group order. Gegsy creates the session and a join link you can share.
Finalize the order
At the deadline, the authorized cards are captured automatically and the order is placed. If everyone's ready early, you can finalize the session manually at any time from the session card.
Manage group sessions
On the Group Sessions page, use the Active tab to see sessions in progress and the All tab to see every session. Select a session to view its participants and details, or to finalize it.
