Edit a location's information
View a location's name, address, phone, email, and map on the Location Information tab, and learn why these core details are managed in Square.
Who is this article for?
- Gegsy merchants who want to review a location's core details — name, address, phone, email, and map position.
- Anyone who needs to correct a wrong address or phone number and isn't sure where to change it.
About the Location Information tab
The Location Information tab shows the core details for a single location: its name, address, phone number, email, and a map of where it sits. These details come straight from Square, so this tab is read-only — there are no editable fields and no save button here. To change any of this information, you update it in Square and then sync it back into Gegsy.
The other tabs of the location editor (such as Pickup, Delivery, and Other Details) are where you configure how the location operates in Gegsy. This article covers only the Location Information tab.
Before you begin
- This tab is available on every plan.
- You need the Locations permission to open the location editor. Account owners have it by default and can grant it to team members under Account → Team.
- Your Square account must be connected for location details to appear and stay current.
Open the Location Information tab
- Go to Locations (
https://app.gegsy.com/locations). - Find the location you want and select the Edit (pencil) action in its row.
- In the editor, open the Location Information tab.
The location's name appears at the top of the editor, with the rest of its details listed on this tab.
What you'll see
This tab displays the following details for the location, all of them read-only:
- Address — the street address, city, state, and postal code.
- Phone — the location's phone number.
- Email — the location's business email.
- A map showing the location's position based on its address.
These values are pulled from Square. You can't type over them here, which keeps Gegsy and Square in agreement about where the location is and how to reach it.
Update a location's details in Square
Because the name, address, phone, email, and map position are managed in Square, that's where you make changes:
- Sign in to your Square account and open the location you want to edit.
- Update the name, address, phone number, or email in Square.
- Save your changes in Square.
If the address changes, Square recalculates the location's map position, and the map on this tab updates to match once the new details sync into Gegsy.
Sync your changes from Square
After you edit a location in Square, bring the changes into Gegsy:
- Go to Locations (
https://app.gegsy.com/locations). - Select Sync with Square.
Once the sync finishes, reopen the location and check the Location Information tab to confirm the updated details appear. The Sync with Square button is available only while your Square connection is valid; if it's unavailable, reconnect Square first.
