Set up tips and fees

Configure tip presets, pass-through app fees, and per-fulfillment service fees with optional waiver thresholds on the Gegsy Tips & Fees page.

Who is this article for?

  • Gegsy merchants who want to collect tips and add service fees on pickup and delivery orders.

About tips and fees

The Tips & Fees page is where you decide whether customers can tip at checkout and what additional fees apply to their orders. You can offer preset tip amounts, pass Gegsy app fees through to customers, and charge a custom service fee on pickup and delivery — with the option to waive that fee once an order reaches a threshold you set.

You set every value yourself; Gegsy does not impose tip percentages or fee amounts.

Before you begin

  • This page is available on all plans.
  • Access is controlled by the Tips & Fees permission. Account owners have it by default and can grant it to employees.
  • Open Operations → Tips & Fees (https://app.gegsy.com/operations/tips-fees).

The page has two cards: Fees on the left and Tips on the right. Each card has its own Save changes button, so save the card you edited.

Fees

The Fees card controls pass-through app fees and any custom service fee you add to orders.

Pass Gegsy app fees to customers

Turn on Pass Gegsy app fees on orders to customers to move Gegsy's app fees onto the customer's bill instead of absorbing them yourself. The helper text notes: "If set to yes, the fee will be added to the order total and will be visible to the customer."

Add a custom service fee

Under Impose an additional fee on orders — labeled with the example "(Ex. CC processing fee, Admin fee, etc.)" — you can configure a separate fee for pickup and for delivery. Each fulfillment type has its own column.

  1. Turn on the Pickup orders or Delivery orders toggle for the fulfillment type you want to charge.
  2. Enter a Fee name. This is what the customer sees on their order (for example, a processing or admin fee). A name is required when the fee is active.
  3. Enter the Amount.
  4. Choose the Type: a percentage (%) of the order, or a fixed amount in your currency. When you pick a percentage, the amount can't exceed 100; when you pick a fixed amount, the currency symbol shows next to the field.
  5. Repeat for the other fulfillment type if you want to charge it too.

Waive the fee above a threshold

For each active fee, you can turn on the {Pickup/Delivery} waiver amount toggle to stop charging the fee once an order is large enough. Enter the order threshold (the field placeholder reads "Enter waive threshold"); orders at or above that amount won't be charged the fee. The waiver amount must be greater than 0.

When you're done, select Save changes on the Fees card.

Tips

The Tips card controls tipping at checkout. Its subtitle reads "Customize your tip settings."

  1. Turn on Collect tips to show tip options to customers at checkout.
  2. Under Percentage amounts, enter the preset tip percentages customers can choose from. Each value must be filled in and must be unique.
  3. Use Default percentage tip to pick which of your presets is selected by default.
  4. Use Default whole amount to offer a fixed default tip instead, or choose Do not add default tip to leave no tip selected by default.

Select Save changes on the Tips card when you're finished.
