Send push notifications
Customize the push notifications your mobile app sends customers as their order status changes, including the title, message, and which alerts are active.
Who is this article for?
- Gegsy merchants with a mobile app who want to control the notifications customers receive as their orders move through each status.
About push notifications
Push notifications are the messages your mobile app sends to customers when something changes with their order — for example, when you receive their order, when it's ready, or when it's been picked up. On the Notifications page you customize the wording of each message and choose which ones are active.
These notifications go to customers who have installed your app and allowed notifications, so the copy you write here is what they'll see on their device. The page covers a fixed set of order-status messages plus a reminder for customers who leave items in their cart.
Before you begin
- Push notifications are available on all plans.
- Access to this page is controlled by the Notifications permission. Account owners have it by default and can grant it to employees who manage the app.
Open the Notifications page
Go to Mobile App → Notifications, or visit https://app.gegsy.com/mobile-app/notifications. The page header reads Notifications settings with the note "Manage your in-app notification messages so customers see updates when their order status changes."
The notification messages
Each message has its own card with a title, a message body, an Active toggle, and a live preview that shows how it will appear with your logo. You can edit the following:
- Order received — sent when a new order comes in.
- Order preparation — sent when the order starts being prepared.
- Order ready — sent when the order is ready.
- Order picked up — sent when a pickup order is completed.
- Order delivered — sent when a delivery order is completed.
- Order canceled — sent when an order is canceled.
- Message when items left in cart — a reminder for customers who added items but didn't check out.
Edit a notification
- Find the message you want to change.
- In the title field (placeholder Enter notification title), type the headline customers will see. The title can be 1–50 characters; a counter below the field shows "{count} of 50 characters."
- In the message field (placeholder Enter notification message), type the body text. The message can be up to 256 characters, with a "{count} of 256 characters" counter below it.
- Watch the preview card on the right — it updates as you type and shows your app logo alongside the title and message. Before you enter text it shows the placeholder Notification Title and Notification Message.
The title is required and must be 1–50 characters, and the message can't be empty. If either is missing or too long, you'll see an inline error when you save (for example, "Title for "Order received" must be 1-50 characters." or "Message for "Order received" is required.").
Turn a notification on or off
Each card has an Active checkbox. Leave it checked to send that notification; clear it to stop sending that particular message. This lets you keep, say, "Order ready" while turning off "Order preparation."
Save your changes
When you're done, click Save changes at the bottom of the page. If any message has a validation error, nothing is saved until you fix it. Once saved, your updated wording and active settings take effect for new notifications.
