Sell gift cards

Turn on eGift cards, set load limits and preset amounts, and add card designs so customers can buy and send gift cards from your storefront.

Who is this article for?

  • Gegsy merchants who want to let customers buy and send eGift cards.
  • Account owners, and employees who have been granted the Gift Cards permission.

About gift cards

The Gift Cards page lets you offer eGift cards in your storefront. When gift cards are on, customers can buy and send an eGift card to a recipient. The recipient gets an email with the card design, amount, and a personal message. Gift cards are available on all plans.

You'll find this page under Marketing → Gift Cards at https://app.gegsy.com/marketing/gift-cards.

Before you begin

  • Access is controlled by the Gift Cards permission. Account owners have it by default and can grant it to employees from the team settings.
  • To turn gift cards on, you'll need to set your load limits, at least one preset amount within those limits, and at least one card design.

Turn gift cards on or off

  1. Open Marketing → Gift Cards.
  2. In the Enable gift cards card, use the toggle to turn the feature on or off. While it's off, the page shows Gift cards are off — "When enabled, customers can buy and send eGift cards to recipients. They'll get an email with the card design, amount, and a personal message."
  3. Turning gift cards on reveals the Amount limits, Preset amounts, and Card designs sections.
  4. Click Save changes to apply. The button is enabled only when you have unsaved edits.

When you save with gift cards turned on, Gegsy checks that your limits, preset amounts, and at least one card design are valid (see each section below). Turning gift cards off saves immediately, even if those fields aren't complete — so you can disable temporarily without finishing setup.

Set amount limits

The Amount limits card sets the minimum and maximum amount a customer can load onto a gift card.

  1. In Minimum load, enter the lowest amount a customer can load.
  2. In Maximum load, enter the highest amount a customer can load.
  3. The Maximum load must be greater than the Minimum load.

Amounts are shown in your account's currency.

Add preset amounts

The Preset amounts card holds the quick-pick amounts shown to customers. Customers can also enter a custom amount within your load limits.

  1. There are three preset amount fields (Amount 1, Amount 2, Amount 3).
  2. Enter an amount in each field you want to offer. Every preset must fall within your Minimum load and Maximum load.
  3. Preset amounts must be unique — you can't repeat the same value.
  4. You need at least one valid preset amount within the load limits to enable gift cards.

Add card designs

The Card designs card holds the images customers can choose for their gift card.

  1. Click the upload tile (Click or drop to upload) and select an image. Only JPG, PNG, or GIF files are accepted.
  2. Crop the image in the Resize Image window, then click Save. Card designs are saved as soon as you upload them.
  3. Repeat to add more designs.
  4. Drag to reorder. The first design is shown by default.
  5. To remove a design, click the × on its tile and confirm in the Confirm Deletion dialog. Removing a design can't be undone.

At least one card design is required when gift cards are turned on.

Preview the customer view

The live preview on the right side of the page shows the customer's Buy gift card view as you make changes — the available styles and amounts. While gift cards are off, the preview notes that customers won't see this option in the storefront until you toggle it on.
