Create posts
Create promotional posts for your Gegsy app and storefront — add an image, title, body, a call-to-action button, and schedule when each post is live.
Who is this article for?
- Gegsy merchants who want to promote items, offers, or news inside their app and storefront.
- Owners and employees with the Posts permission.
About posts
Posts are promotional cards you publish to your customer-facing app and storefront — think of them as a lightweight feed for announcements, featured items, and offers. Each post has an image, a title, a short message, and an optional call-to-action button that can link straight to an item, a category, a coupon, a group order, and more.
Posts are separate from your storefront blog. Use posts for short, time-boxed promotions in the app feed; use the blog for longer-form articles on your storefront.
Posts are available on all plans. The page is gated by the Posts permission. Account owners have it by default and can grant it to employees from the Team settings.
Where to find your posts
Open Marketing → Posts (https://app.gegsy.com/marketing/posts) to see every post you've created. Each post shows as a card with its image, status badge, schedule dates, title, and a short preview of the body.
Use the tabs across the top to filter by status — All, Live, Scheduled, Expired, and Hidden — and the Search by title or body… box to find a specific post. A status is derived automatically from each post's visibility and schedule:
- Live — visible and within its scheduled date range.
- Scheduled — its Start date is in the future.
- Expired — its End date has passed.
- Hidden — turned off with the Visible switch, regardless of dates.
Each card also has a Visible switch to show or hide a post quickly, a pencil to Edit, and a trash icon to Delete it (you'll be asked to confirm).
Create a post
- On the Posts page, select Create a post. (You can also use the Create a post button on the empty state.)
- Fill in the Details section described below.
- Select Save.
The page is split into a Details form on the left and a Live preview on the right, so you can see roughly how the post will look to your customers as you type.
Title and body
- Title — the headline of the post. Required, up to 60 characters. A live counter shows how many you've used.
- Body — your message. Required, up to 140 characters.
If your plan includes it, an AI assist button appears next to the Details heading. It can suggest a title and body that you can apply to the form with one click.
Button text and link
A post can include a call-to-action button.
- Link button to — choose where the button sends customers. Pick None if you don't want a button at all; the Button text field then disappears.
- Button text — the label shown on the button. Required for every link type except None, up to 24 characters.
The link options are:
- None — no button.
- External URL — send customers to any web address. Enter the link in the External URL field (for example,
https://example.com); it must be a valid URL. - App Page — open a destination inside your app, such as the order/menu page, account, orders, wallet, loyalty, referral, start a group order, or purchase a gift card. The choices available depend on which features you have enabled.
- Item — open a specific menu item. Search for and select the item.
- Category — open a specific menu category. Search for and select the category.
- Coupon — apply one of your coupons. Select it from your existing coupons.
For App Page, Item, Category, and Coupon, you'll be asked to pick the exact destination after choosing the link type.
Image
- Upload image — drag a file onto the box or click to browse. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, or GIF only.
- After you choose a file, a cropper opens so you can frame the image (posts use a widescreen crop). Adjust the position and zoom, then Save.
- To swap the image, remove the current one with the ✕ button and upload a new file.
Schedule and visibility
- Start date — the day the post goes live. Required. Before this date the post shows as Scheduled.
- End date — the day the post stops showing. Leave it blank if the post never expires; use Clear to remove a date you've set. The end date must be after the start date. After this date the post shows as Expired.
- Visible to customers — the switch that controls whether the post appears at all. Turn it off to keep a post for later without showing it; it will show as Hidden regardless of its dates.
When you're done, select Save. If any required field is missing or invalid, the form highlights it and the save is blocked until it's fixed.
Edit or delete a post
- On the Posts page, select the pencil on a post's card (or open it from the list).
- Make your changes in the Details form.
- Select Save to apply them, or Delete to remove the post. Deleting asks you to confirm first.
You can also toggle a post on or off straight from the list using its Visible switch, without opening the editor.
