Set up modifiers and variation defaults

• Gegsy merchants who want to review their modifier lists and pre-select default modifier options based on item variations.

About modifiers

Modifiers are the add-ons and choices customers make on an item — like "Add Protein" or "Bun Choice." Your modifier lists sync from Square, so you create them and set their rules — optional or required, minimum and maximum selections, and prices — in Square. On the Gegsy Modifiers page, you review those lists and configure variation defaults.

Review your modifier lists

Open Menu → Modifiers. Each modifier list shows:

• Name — the modifier list's name.
• Options — how many options it includes.
• Selection — whether it's Optional or Required, the selection control (for example, Checkboxes), and the minimum/maximum selections.
• Used by — how many items use the modifier list.
• Variation defaults — whether per-variation defaults are set (for example, "2 configured" or "Not configured").

Select Sync with Square to pull in your latest modifiers and changes from Square.

Configure variation defaults

Variation defaults let you pre-select a modifier option when a customer picks a matching variation on any item that uses the modifier list — for example, defaulting a drink's pumps to match the size. Customers can still change the selection at checkout.

1. On the Modifiers page, select Configure next to the modifier list.
2. Review How this appears on Gegsy — the Selection control, Requirement, and Minimum/Maximum selections. These come from your Square setup, and individual items can override them in Square. Below that, you'll see the modifier's options and their prices.
3. In Variation Defaults, select + Add from sample item to pull in the variations from an item that uses this modifier list.
4. For each Variation name, choose a Default modifier from the dropdown. The Sampled from column shows which item the variation came from.
5. Select Save.

To remove a variation default, select the delete (trash) icon on its row. Select Back to modifiers to return to the list.
