Update a customer's loyalty phone in Square
When a customer changes their phone number in your app or online, learn how to move their Square loyalty account to the new number so points show at the register.
Who is this article for?
- Gegsy merchants with a Square Loyalty program whose customers change their phone number in your app or on your website.
About loyalty phone numbers
Customers can change the phone number on their account from Personal information in your app or on your website. Gegsy updates the number everywhere it can, including their customer profile in Square.
Square keeps each loyalty account on the phone number the customer enrolled with, and only you can change it. Until you do:
- Your app and website still show the customer's points, and they keep earning and redeeming them. Nothing is lost.
- At your register, the customer's points don't come up when they give their new number.
When this happens, Gegsy lists the customer on your Customers page so you can update their loyalty account in Square.
Before you begin
- An active Square Loyalty program.
- Access to your Square Dashboard.
Find customers whose loyalty phone needs updating
- Go to Customers → Customers at
https://app.gegsy.com/customers. - When customers need their loyalty phone updated, a card at the top of the page shows how many, for example 1 loyalty phone number to update in Square. The card doesn't appear when there are none.
- Each customer in the card shows their loyalty phone in Square and the number to change it to: Loyalty phone (old number) → change to (new number).
Update the loyalty phone in Square
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and open the customer's profile.
- Open their loyalty account and change its phone number to the new number shown on the Gegsy card.
- Save your changes in Square.
Changing the phone on the customer's profile alone doesn't move their loyalty account. Make the change on the loyalty account itself.
Gegsy removes the customer from the card on its own once Square reports the new number.
Mark a customer as done
If you've updated the loyalty phone and the customer is still listed, or you decide not to update it, select Mark done next to their name to remove them from the card.
