Link your domain to your Gegsy storefront

Who is this article for?

  • Gegsy merchants who want their web storefront to run on their own domain (for example, mybusinessname.com) instead of the default .gegsy.app subdomain.

About custom domains

Every Gegsy storefront comes with a free .gegsy.app subdomain, like yourbusiness.gegsy.app. If you already own a domain, you can connect it so customers order from your own web address instead.

A few things to know before you start:

  • It works with any domain registrar.
  • An SSL certificate is provisioned automatically, so your storefront loads securely over HTTPS.
  • DNS changes typically take 1–24 hours to take effect.
  • You can connect one custom domain per storefront.
  • Your .gegsy.app subdomain keeps working after you connect a custom domain.

Before you begin

  • You need a domain you already own, registered with a provider such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, or Squarespace (formerly Google Domains).
  • You'll need access to your registrar's DNS settings to add a record.
  • Decide whether you're connecting your root/primary domain (for example, mybusinessname.com) or a subdomain (for example, order.mybusinessname.com).

Add the DNS record at your registrar

Sign in to your domain registrar, open its DNS management page, and add the record exactly as Gegsy shows it — matching the Type, Name, and Value. Then save your changes.

Here's where to add DNS records at the major registrars:

If your registrar isn't listed, look for a section called DNS, DNS Management, Advanced DNS, or Manage DNS records in your domain settings.

Connect your domain in Gegsy

  1. In your dashboard, go to Storefront → Custom Domain (https://app.gegsy.com/storefront/domain).
  2. In the Domain field, enter the domain you want to use — for example, mybusinessname.com — then select Add Domain.
  3. Gegsy displays the DNS record you need to add at your registrar under DNS Configuration. For a root/primary domain, this is an A record:
Use the copy icon next to the value to copy it. Gegsy always shows the exact record(s) for the domain you entered, so copy whatever is displayed for yours.
    • Type: A
    • Name: @
    • Value: 216.150.1.1

Confirm your domain is active

Return to Storefront → Custom Domain. Once your DNS change propagates — often within an hour, and up to 24 hours — the domain shows an Active status with the message "Your domain is active and serving your storefront." Gegsy automatically issues an SSL certificate so your storefront loads securely.

From this screen you can also:

  • Select Change to switch to a different custom domain.
  • Select Remove to disconnect the domain. Your .gegsy.app subdomain keeps working.
